In this role, the Messaging Administrator will support the Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Lync, and Microsoft SharePoint environments consisting of more than 50 locations and 6,000 users which includes a Mobile Device Management (MDM) solution. In this role you will perform day-to-day operational tasks to ensure the availability and performance of the system along with diagnosing and troubleshooting issues. As the Messaging Administrator you will be part of a team, have visible direct interaction with users at varying levels of the company.
1. We will have about 6800 user mailboxes when fully migrated.
2. Running Exchange 2013 CU5 on Windows 2012 R2 and using Windows 2012 Domain.
3. In process now of performing migration from IBM Notes/Domino and Sametime to Microsoft Outlook/Exchange and Lync. After completion of this project, we will be focusing on migrating our Domino applications over to Sharepoint 2013.
Provide day to day administration for Microsoft Outlook/Exchange 2013, Microsoft Lync 2013, Microsoft SharePoint 2013, Symantec Messaging Gateway and Symantec Mail Security for Exchange as well as a mobile messaging environment (Apple iOS and MobileIron are a plus). Conduct ongoing monitoring and maintenance to ensure stability and optimal performance on all server environments. Keep management up to date on any outstanding production related issues. Provide assistance, documentation, and training for support personnel. Adhere to company software licensing policies and practices. Participate in on call rotation and provide after-hours support as needed. Identify and resolve problems affecting messaging systems performance, efficiency, and availability in a timely manner. Ensure all policies and procedures are followed, work within the scope of the project, and adhere to time constraints. Perform routine server maintenance tasks such as maintaining messaging application patches, Exchange databases, monitoring SQL server database.
Create and maintain daily/weekly/monthly operational checklists and operational reports.
Experience administrating a clustered, highly available Exchange environment. In-depth knowledge of messaging systems, system administration and architecture expertise. Experience running Exchange and other systems in a virtualized environment on a SAN preferred. Experience with a 6000+ Exchange and Lync environment preferred. Ability to write PowerShell scripts to automate routine tasks and provide better customer service. Knowledge of Microsoft server security and maintenance. Knowledge of Active Directory 2012. Windows 2012/2012 R2 OS skills. Demonstrate strong analytical and diagnostic skills through troubleshooting and problem determination/resolution. An in-depth knowledge in Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP). Ability to effectively multitask and prioritize the execution of tasks in a high-pressure environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills, with a focus on listening and questioning skills. Effective analytical, planning, organizational, problem determination and resolution process skills. Disaster Recovery techniques for enterprise email service. Troubleshooting Microsoft Outlook client interface. Understanding of DAGs, CAS, Public Folder management, Archive Mail and Unified Messaging. Understanding of Active Directory Group Policies, Microsoft PowerShell, and Windows Server 2012/2012 R2. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
